Guest Editor Guidelines
Biodiversity Reports, An International (ISSN: 3117-8596) regularly publishes Special Issues on emerging, interdisciplinary, and socially significant themes within the broad areas of Biodiversity Reports. These Special Issues are led by Guest Editors, who are accomplished scholars, researchers, and thought leaders in their respective disciplines.
Guest Editors play a pivotal role in ensuring that each Special Issue reflects academic excellence, intellectual diversity, and scholarly relevance, while fostering cross-disciplinary dialogue and collaboration.
This document outlines the guidelines and responsibilities for Guest Editors to manage Special Issues with professionalism, fairness, and academic integrity.
1. Role of Guest Editors
Guest Editors are responsible for conceptualizing and managing Special Issues that align with the journal’s mission of advancing understanding of human society, culture, and thought. Their main duties include:
- Proposing relevant and timely themes in areas such as sociology, psychology, history, literature, political science, communication, philosophy, and interdisciplinary humanities.
- Preparing a formal proposal that includes the title, scope, and tentative timeline.
- Overseeing the peer review process to ensure scholarly rigor and impartial evaluation.
- Inviting quality submissions from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds.
- Upholding ethical standards and ensuring the originality and academic merit of all contributions.
- (Optional) Writing an editorial introduction summarizing the Special Issue theme, scope, and key insights.
2. Proposal Submission
To propose a Special Issue, prospective Guest Editors must submit a Special Issue Proposal Form containing the following details:
- Proposed Title of the Special Issue
- Rationale and Relevance: Explanation of the importance and contemporary relevance of the topic
- Scope: Key themes, disciplines, and subtopics to be addressed
- Tentative Timeline: Expected submission, review, and publication schedule
- List of Potential Contributors (if available)
Guest Editor Information: Full name, institutional affiliation, email ID, ORCID iD, and a short biography (100–150 words)
All proposals are reviewed by the Editorial Board, and successful applicants will be formally appointed as Guest Editors.
3. Responsibilities During the Special Issue
Guest Editors are expected to:
- Promote the Special Issue through academic networks, conferences, and social platforms.
- Invite submissions from qualified scholars and researchers across regions and disciplines.
- Conduct an initial screening to ensure manuscripts fit the thematic focus and meet journal standards.
- Coordinate with the Editorial Office to assign appropriate reviewers.
- Provide fair editorial recommendations based on reviewer feedback.
- Encourage diverse representation among authors and contributors, avoiding institutional or regional bias.
4. Peer Review and Editorial Standards
All manuscripts submitted to Special Issues undergo the journal’s standard double-blind peer review process.
Guest Editors must ensure confidentiality, impartiality, and transparency throughout the review and decision-making process.
The final publication decision for all manuscripts rests with the Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the Guest Editors, to maintain consistency with the journal’s editorial policies and ethical standards.
5. Ethical Responsibilities
Guest Editors are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic ethics by:
- Declaring and avoiding any conflicts of interest (e.g., handling their own manuscripts or those of close collaborators).
- Ensuring all submissions comply with the journal’s plagiarism and research ethics policies.
- Reporting any suspected cases of ethical misconduct, data fabrication, or duplicate publication to the Editorial Office.
- Maintaining fairness, respect, and confidentiality throughout the review and editorial process.
