Open Access Policy
Biodiversity Reports is committed to promoting open science and the unrestricted dissemination of scholarly research. The journal follows a full open access publishing model, ensuring that all published content is freely and permanently available to readers worldwide immediately upon publication. By removing access barriers, Biodiversity Reports aims to support the global exchange of scientific knowledge, encourage collaboration, and contribute to evidence-based biodiversity conservation and sustainable environmental management.
Immediate and Free Access
All articles published in Biodiversity Reports are accessible online without subscription fees, registration requirements, or paywalls. Readers are free to read, download, copy, print, share, and link to the full texts of articles, provided that proper attribution is given to the authors and the journal.
This policy ensures equitable access to research findings for scientists, practitioners, educators, students, policymakers, and the general public, regardless of institutional or financial resources.
Author Rights and Copyright
Authors retain full copyright of their published work. By submitting a manuscript to Biodiversity Reports, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive the article.
This model respects author ownership of intellectual property while enabling broad dissemination and long-term accessibility of scholarly content.
Licensing and Reuse
All articles are published under a Creative Commons license, which clearly defines permitted uses of the content. The journal primarily supports licenses such as Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) or Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC).
Under these licenses:
- Articles may be shared and reused for scholarly and educational purposes
- Proper credit must be given to the original authors and source
- Licensing terms are clearly displayed with each published article
Creative Commons licensing enhances transparency and promotes responsible reuse of research outputs.
To support editorial management, peer review, and online publication, Biodiversity Reports may apply article processing charges.
Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit and are never influenced by the author’s ability to pay publication fees.
Waivers and Support (Optional)
The journal supports equitable participation in scholarly publishing and may consider fee waivers or reductions for authors from low- and middle-income countries or in cases of demonstrated financial need.
Archiving and Long-Term Preservation
Biodiversity Reports is committed to the long-term preservation of published content. Articles remain permanently accessible through the journal website and, where applicable, through recognized digital archiving and preservation services.
This ensures that research remains available to the scholarly community over time.
Quality Assurance and Open Access
The open access model adopted by Biodiversity Reports does not compromise academic quality. All manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process, ensuring scientific integrity, originality, and relevance.
Open access applies only after acceptance and publication.
